Detroit Half Marathon

Last year I registered to run the Detroit half marathon, well I didn't follow my training plan so I backed out. This year I registered again and once again was not doing what I was suppose to. I told my husband I wasn't going to do it.
On our anniversary my Husband asked me "Would you do it if I ran with you?" I was more than a little surprised since he hates running, and we only had nine weeks. So we got him some shoes and I found a 9 week training plan. Since we didn't have a lot of time we did walk/run interval on our runs longer than 3 miles.
Race day we decided to run as much as we could, and we ended up running most of it. We walked the incline to the Ambassador bridge, the incline out of the Windsor tunnel, the water stations and a couple other short walks. The last two miles were really hard for me and I was so glad he was there to push me. We had so much fun, we talked the entire time. The crowd was amazing. We were almost done and my husband said "You could probably talk me into a full marathon someday" I think he secretly loves running and won't admit it.
I knew I could finish even if I had to walk a lot of it. So my next goal was to finish in under 3 hours. (When I registered I put 2:45 for my time)
Our time ended up being 2:44:22. I was so happy with that.
From now on I plan to post the races I register for on my Sparkpage to hold me accountable.
