Here is what is posted on runmichigan.com. However, according to race officials, the course turn-around was placed incorrectly and was actually 3.7 miles instead of 3.1 miles. They are expecting to change the times, but haven't yet.

Most people were in costume. Some costumes were very elaborate. Dogs in costumes were entertaining. We loved our animal hats because not only were we joining in the spirit of Halloween, it was a very cold & windy morning and they kept our heads warm and protected. Lynn's was a tiger. Mine was a penguin. In addition to my hat, I had on thermal undies, athletic pants, 2 pairs of socks, running shoes, a turtleneck, t-shirt, fleece hoodie and down puff vest & gloves.
The registration fee included great tech t-shirts with cute Halloween graphics. After the race we went straight to the food table-of course! They had bottled water, vitamin water, bananas*, bagels, granola bars and mini candies. The prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place were pretty nice too. After filling up on food, we checked the race results. When we saw that Lynn won her category, we lingered about so she could claim her prize.
*this past summer, there was a surplus of bananas at the Back To The Beach race. Lynn's husband and my husband were working the medi-tent and were asked if they wanted a case of bananas. Lynn's husband said YES! When Lynn & husband got home, they sliced, bagged and froze all the bananas. Lynn says they are perfect banana cubes for her morning protein shakes & smoothies.
I love these races. The training and preparation keep me in fitness mode, the races are always fun, the proceeds go to charity. I've made new friends and we email each other about races we are joining. I encourage all my spark friends to support a local 5k. We always make sure the race is a run/walk. As you can see from our time, we don't do a lot of running, but a mix of walking and jogging.
