First Month is done! What did I learn?

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

This week was the filthy fifty at the gym during our weight loss challenge. If you wanted a half pound advantage you had to do: Filthy Fifty
50 walking lunges, 25 each leg, Men 15 lbs, Women 5-8 lbs
50 push-ups
50 bodyweight squats
50 renegade rows 25 each side
50 hop ups on step
50 mountain climbers 50 on each side
50 jumping jacks
50 dips
50 second plank
50 second walk or run at 5 % incline on treadmill record time
50 bicycles.

At the beginning of the week I did this and I was all about not redoing it. I was ok with the half pound. If I wanted to do the advanced for the pound, you would have to alternate a half mile run beginning, inbetween each exercise and ending with it. Total of 5.5 miles plus the Filthy 50. Yesterday I went to the gym and I had talked with Amy in the morning. She told me how she had done the advanced filthy 50 and I commended her on it not feeling it was worth the extra effort for a half a pound. Then she said something to me. It took me 2 hours and 8 minutes to finish it, but I was so proud of myself..... The whole way to the gym I kept hearing what she said. This whole journey has been a journey to shed my self hate. Pride is something that is so important in this journey because 1 month ago I was at the bottom of the barrel with no place to go except for up. So.... I did it. I did not do modified versions of any of these exercises except for the push ups which i did 10 guy push up and 40 modified. I did the run on the elliptical averaging between 5 and 6.5 minutes for .5 miles. One hour 58 minutes and some odd seconds later I shared in Amy's pride. I was covered in sweat. Dripping! It took us longer to do this than it took for us to do sprint triathlons!
Advanced Filthy Fifty - do this workout and record time to receive a 1 lb off at weigh in.
Put treadmill on 5 % incline and run or walk fast for half a mile.
Then do 50 walking lunges on each leg - Men hold 15 lbs, Women 5-8 lbs
Treadmill on 5% incline and run or walk fast for half mile
50 push-ups
treadmill on 5 % incline and run/walk half mile
50 bodyweight squats
treadmill etc.
50 renegade rows on each arm
treadmill etc
50 hop ups on step
treadmill etc
50 mountain climbers
treadmill etc
50 jumping jacks
treadmill etc
50 dips
treadmill etc
50 second plank
treadmill etc
50 bicycles each side
treadmill etc. Done - record time.

This Fat lady did this work out. I was beaming with pride and so grateful that I had talked with Amy yesterday morning. I lost 1.5 lbs this week. I have lost a total of 10 lbs!!! So happy about that. What did I learn this month?
I am worth it. It is going to take a long time to get there, but I am worth it!

Amy-Jean sent me this workout (I think) to show me what she had to do. I hung it on my FOCUS BOARD in my workout room at home to show me that my 10 mile bicycle or 1 mile walk is NOT quite a workout. THIS IS AN EXTREME WORKOUT! And I need to kick my butt a bit more than I am if I am going to see results.

    YOU ARE A BIG LOSER!
WOOHOO - YOUR 10 Lbs. is AWESOME!!!
