Not sure how to do this...

Hey everyone! I just wrote a blog yesterday, but I figured I'd write again today. I've been putting off setting goals, cause I'm just not sure what kind of small goals I should set for myself. I've got my final weight loss goal, but still trying to figure out short term goals. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know I want to avoid fast food for as long as possible, but how do I put that in a short term goal form? What other short term goals should I have?

Feeling lots better today. Cough is still hanging on, but my energy and positive attitude are back. Had to work today (I'm a Special Care Aid, or Nurse's Aid) and it was a good day. Still waiting for the sun to come out - it's been hiding for a few days now. I usually suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) so not seeing the sun all day is depressing for me. I do take medication for depression/anxiety, and vitamin D helps the SAD, but I really really wanna see the sun!

I've been doing the Healthy Eating challenge, and really enjoying it. I think the biggest change I've made is planning our weekly menu. It's not only helped with the grocery bill and not having to throw out spoiled produce, but it's REALLY helping me to avoid fast food. Having something planned and ready to go takes away my excuse of "I don't know what to make, and nothing's thawed out, so we might as well get take-out." Can't do that when you already have a plan in place! It's working wonderfully. I DID have pizza the other day, cause my hubby was craving it, but I kept it reasonable. I don't think I've ever gone this long without McDonald's! At least not in several years! Go me!

One more week, and I'll be done with the Healthy Eating Challenge, and I'm gonna move on to the 28 day boot camp. YEAH BABY!!!

    Such good advice from everyone. I don't have much to add.

    Good luck on the 28 day boot camp. I made it to day 20 and fizzled out because I stopped losing weight. I'm going to take it back up soon, it was really good.

    If you haven't got a Light Therapy Box, perhaps you should look into getting one. Talk with your Dr about it. Some Insurance Companies cover certain ones.

    As far as goals are concerned, they need to be something that is doable and that applies to YOU. It is also best to only work on one or two short-term goals at a time, and you have identified one already- your nutrition and reduction of fast-food. Maybe you could make a HUGE pizza and when it is cold cut it and freeze it. I do this and get about 16 good-sized pieces out of each one. You would laugh if you saw it, but my teenage grandson loves them. They are a lot more filling, MUCH lower in fat and carbs, and he can't taste the difference :-)

    You are on the right track for small goals beginning with identifying your avoiding fast food goal. You have a plan to avoid fast food, and your Healthy Eating Challenge is a providing you the necessary solution, plus you are enjoying it! You could expand on this goal, and set a new goal regarding cooking.

    You must have a physical goal in mind for you to join the Boot Camp Challenge. What are your goals for this challenge? What do you hope to achieve? gain? continue afterwards? Maybe you could set a short term streak with progression.

    Don't make it too difficult. Start with just a few simple identifiable goals, that are desirable and doable. As you progress, you'll see more clearly what will work for you, and it will motivate you further.

    You are doing great so far! Keep it up!

    my sister walks 15,000 steps a day at 63 years
    old and has lost 105 pounds. she went from a size 24 to a size 10. all her health issues dropped off as the 105 pounds dropped off. took 16 months.

    i gave up grain and sugary products and have lost 44 pounds at age 60. i went from a size 18 to a size 10 shorts and medium tops from a 1 or 2x. took 7 months.

    use a salad plate as a dinner plate

    use fruit for your sweet tooth cravings, an apple works great. helps with the chewing sensation.

    fill your salad plate with half vegetables.

    we are both still loosing weight until we reach our goal

    I agree with SH9719. The main thing is to set small, attainable goals and to increase those goals when you can. I think the main point is accomplishment. I'm really trying to focus on the 10 minutes of exercise daily goal. I don't NEED to work out an hour each day to feel successful. Good luck!!

    Do not make it complicated. I would identify one area that you most want to change or enhance and set a goal that will move you towards the change you want. For example if you need to increase your cardio or streangth training, set yourself a goal to increase your minutes per week to your target number and a deadline. Good luck and keep on avoiding the FF.
