Was that ME???

Sunday, November 11, 2012

I lost 2lbs this week! That means for the first time in I-don't-know-how-many-years I now weight under 190! In fact, the last time I was working out I got down to 192 so this is a pretty major milestone for me emoticon

As a reward, I downloaded a couch-to-5k podcast to my Zune (yes, I said Zune, it was a birthday gift 5 years ago and still works great TYVM!) I haven't run (on purpose) since they made me do it in high school PE classes. It's not like that was last year!

Then this afternoon my girl and I walked the mile to the playground and sat at a table so she could have her snack. There's a track around the playground (6 laps is 1 mile, according to the sign) so while she was wandering around I did the c25k workout! I did emoticon !

It starts with a 5 minute walk then has intervals of 1 minute run and 90 second walk with a 5 minute walk after the 6th run. Oh, sure, I didn't run the full minute on most of the intervals, even skipped one completely. And I might be doing week 1 for more than 1 week but still... I finished it! And yeah I did have a pretty yucky asthma attack about 15 minutes after I finished but that's why I had my emergency inhaler in my pocket emoticon But, still, I DID IT!

Of course, we still had to walk the mile home when she was done playing. My legs were a tad gel-like but it's all good emoticon

Now I need to go apologize to my son. Not only does he have Asperger's, he's also 16. He is arrogance and ignorance personified but I still shouldn't have said, "In 20 years you're going to think of all the garbage you've spewed out and think 'wow, I was really stupid'". And then left the room saying, "You're too full of crap. Just shut up." NOT a good mommy moment. I just sometimes can't handle his "everything I say is right because I said it and everyone in the world is stupid except me" attitude. It gets incredibly annoying! And tonight I snapped emoticon emoticon

Good night! emoticon

Hi Sherry. Thanks for posting such positive comments on my blog. emoticon I want to congratulate you emoticon on getting to under 190 lbs. That is wonderful. I am trying to get to under 200, which I, also, haven't been for a long time. But, I will because emoticon
I know what it is like to have an asthma attack after exercising ~ and it's not pleasant. I don't have asthma REAL bad but enough so that I sometimes get a slight attack after exercise. :(
It seems we have a bit in common because I have a wonderful son who has autism. I love him so much, he is an awesome person. emoticon
I am adding you to my friend list, I hope that is ok. :) emoticon

What a great accomplishment!!! Why is it that those people we love most can cause us to just snap in moments of weakness?! I hope all goes well with your son. emoticon

emoticon emoticon Read the first part of your blog again and know that you're doing emoticon
If you do the 1st week of the program for a few weeks that's okay, because you're still working it. It takes time to build up the ability to run even short distances. When you can do it relatively well and think you can do more, then move on to the next level. Keep up the challenge and you'll do good.

As for your son, know that parents make a lot of mistakes. You've got a lot to handle. But any kid at any age can appreciate being told "I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I would like your help to do better next time." Talk to him on his level and ask for him to try to do better (not talk back, be respectful, be courteous, etc) as you try to do better (not raise your voice, not say something that could feel hurtful, etc). It really is a partnership between the parent and child. As a child who grew up with parents who always put themselves first and blame me for everything wrong in their lives, I know how much of a difference it makes when a parent apologizes and respects their kid enough to be honest about their faults.
