What a terrific 4 day weekend

First, thanks to all of my Teddy Bear friends for the glorious birthday greetings. It is all so very appreciated. I love this team!
I have never had a more stupendous Thanksgiving holiday in my life.
On Thursday my son and I collaborated to put on a terrific healthy dinner for Thanksgiving. We had the usual stuff, Home Smoked Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Green Bean Casserole and Pumpkin Pie. But we have all been re-thinking our consumption of meat and vegetables since my my very dear, vegan DIL Kelly has come upon the scene. My portions of those things were minuscule, but we have instituted some additional dishes that I could really fill up on. Our CSA (local farm share) had really packed on the veggies so I made a Braising Greens with cubed Heirloom tomatoes and White Beans with reduced Balsamic Vinegar that was fat free and positively lovely and butter and cream free Kuri Squash soup (yum!) and Kelly made a concoction of squash and apples that was awesome. It was so easy to get 5-9 portions of fruits and veggies and stay pretty close to my goal calorie allotment for the day.
On Friday, my family got back together to ride the Niles Canyon Train of lights www.ncry.org/
and the terrific parade that takes place down main street after the train gets back. The parade is such fun, kind of like going back in time.
Saturday was my birthday. I did my usual extended hike that I do every Saturday morning. In the evening my DH took me out to dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant. I thought we were going home after dinner but my DH had other plans, he drove us to our movie theater and to my surprise my two sons were waiting in the lobby and we went in to watch Skyfall. My sons and I love James Bond and this movie was awesome! It has been a very long since I've had my boys together to myself without DIL's and Grandsons. It was a great surprise.
Finally on Sunday my DH and I met my other terrific DIL, Alexis and my older grandson, Knox and went to see Cathy Rigby in the musical, Peter Pan. Rigby is a real inspiration. She is just one year younger than me but still provides a completely plausible boy who never grew up with all of the awesome splits and gymnastic moves of a much younger Peter Pan. I was a great show! Then we went to my son Greg's house for dinner.
In all it was such a great 4 days and so hard to get back in work saddle this morning. I gained two pounds but it was so worth it that I'm happy to get back to my regular diet and exercise regime. I know I'll be back down to my goal weight in no time.
