1st Plateau

As I've mentioned before, I'm trying to hit 300 pounds by the end of the year and I was making good progres (even losing weight over Thanksgiving weekend and a vacation) but this week I've hit a wall. I've been bouncing around in the same pound all week. 314, 313.2, 313.4, 313.6. I've been trying to change it up like walking longer or doing more hills. I'm not quite at the fitness level where feel like I can do intervals or any jogging so that won't be a help. I'm changing the composition of what I eat to be less carbs, more protein (not permanently, just hopefully enough to confuse my body)

Anybody have any other tips? I'm trying to stay positive and telling myself that without all this work, I'd be gaining a lot more weight but 4-5 days of this is starting to weaken my resolve.

I ended up taking the weekend off, I still ate healthy for the most part but took a break from exercise. I came back to it on Monday and am now below where I was for last week. I hope this will break through and I can start losing again. Thanks everyone for the encouragement and ideas.

I agree with Ghetta, don't weigh in often, because that's where you get set back. I'd decided that I would weigh in every two weeks, but then I joined the HLC challenge where we have to weigh in every week. I wasn't happy with that, but I'm part of a team and I have to be a team player.

You have to plan to weigh in, and look forward to it, sometimes I can't wait and maybe weigh in the day before I'm supposed to weigh in, because I'm so excited at what the scales will tell me, but its not only about the scales, its also about how loose your clothes become or how fitter you might be getting or the inches that you have lost around your waist, arms etc.

If you fall off your track, then get back into it, I know, I've fallen off many times, I've realized though that FITTER not FASTER. Also, any loss should be a positive!

You need to convince yourself to hang on and emoticon !!! Plateau's are part of the journey--in order to succeed you need to find away to push through them!!! They will make reaching your goals more satisfying!!! I stay positive by thinking about the NSV's that have come along with the lower # on the scale!! You can do it!!!!

I've never subscribed to the weighing in less often theory. I know some people can make is work, but if I don't keep on myself daily, then I tend to slip. First, it's not weighing in daily, then it's not exercising daily, then I stop tracking food. I'm kind of lazy like that. :)

You are probably right about the water. I've noticed that my sodium intake has been higher than normal, I'm probably holding in excess water weight....gotta flush that out. Thanks for the input

Maybe don't check your weight so often? Maybe every 3 days or so? (vs everyday),

More water. Been drinking lemon water myself and it is doing me good! emoticon emoticon
