Ughhh... may not lose pounds this week!

Thursday, December 06, 2012

OMG! I went to the store today and got all kinds of beautiful fresh produce to make some healthy dinners for a few days. When my ex got into town he wanted to go out to dinner instead. So we went to Logan's. I did order the Health Nut Bunless Burger with steamed broccoli. Doesn't sound that bad... but near as I can tell online it has 500 calories! Plus the broccoli. And I had a roll. So two days this week I went way over on my calories! First was Tuesday at the hibachi grill for my son's birthday. Now this.

It's just one of those weeks where I'll be happy to maintain! But I usually run a pretty decent caloric deficit so even going out of my range on two days in the same week shouldn't cause me to gain this week. I'm afraid I'm hitting a plateau anyway because my losses have been minimal the last 2 weeks. Why is it that just before a major milestone, I slow down? Or maybe it just seems that way.

Anyway, he's behaving himself very well so far. I just feel so bad for him because he's put on 40lbs since I last saw him! The poor thing! His pants are too tight and he's wheezing... I'm the wheezer... he's NEVER wheezed before emoticon I just want to cry! He's always been relatively fit, no matter what else was going on. He's had such a bad year and it shows all over him emoticon

Good night, SparkFriends! Tomorrow is another day to make healthy choices and spread the spark! Make it a good one! emoticon

I can totally relate to your plight. I didn't exercise or eat very well, and the best possible consequence for my actions would be to maintain.
I wish you lots of luck- it sound like you did your best in the circumstances life threw at you.

Remember - it took a long time to put on the weight and you probably didn't put it on at a consistant rate, so shedding it won't be consistant either. You did what you could to make a better choice, and that matters. 500 calories for a dinner that you chose mindfully is better than picking anything and having it be 1,000 calories. Also, in a case like this you could think about special ordering - you could've asked for any sauces to be on the side, to grill instead of fry, or even ask if they will grill a chicken breast, bring you some sauce, then choose sides to go with it. What's the harm in asking? At best you'll get something you choose and know to be healthier and at worst they say no and you pick from the menu anyways.

I'm sure it isn't fun to see him in looking rough, but remember he's not your problem. You can mention to him that you're worried about him for the sake of your kids (you want him around and healthy for them), but if he chooses to be unhealthy it has little to do with you now. While you feel bad, remind yourself that you have nothing to do with his health choices anymore. If he sees you getting healthy maybe he'll take a page from the book, and then you can help guide him.
