#526: I Don't Like...But I Do Like...

Sunday, January 13, 2013

We all have things we don't like and things we do. Here are some of my thoughts about what I don't like and the positive side of what I do like. Maybe you can relate.
I don't like the way I look emoticon, but I do like the goal weight picture I keep in my mind emoticon and realize that goal can be achieved, despite setbacks, if I work diligently, day by day, inch by inch, pound by pound to get there.

I don't like that I sometimes overindulge as with the last two days, but I do like that new beginnings are unlimited and may start at any time which I will do every time I backslide. emoticon

I don't like that there is so much housework and yardwork that needs to be done, but I like the feeling I get when I have totally cleaned a room of the house or have raked several bags of leaves knowing I am making progress. emoticon

I don't like being alone, but I do like knowing that if there is a special someone meant for me to meet that it will be so and if not that I am comfortable living life anyway. emoticon

I don't like being in everyday pain from back problems, but I do like being able to still get around on my own without a walker or wheelchair although some days are more difficult than others and that I can still work out, within limits. emoticon

I don't like that money often seems in short supply, but I do like knowing that when unexpected repairs or other bills pop up that there always seems a way to pay for them. emoticon

I don't like that my normal positive attitude sometimes isn't emoticon, but I do like knowing that those down times don't last and that I have friends I can call to talk to and your blogs and posts to read to perk me back up emoticon.

I don't like the times when the words don't work and I don't make progress on my book emoticon, but I do like how far I've come with it and how writer's block doesn't last emoticon.

I don't like that I procrastinate, but I do like that it is a habit that can be broken, one task at a time. emoticon

I don't like that I will probably never meet all of my SP and Facebook friends in person emoticon, but I do like those I have met and the new friends I have made knowing that meeting more of you may happen in the future emoticon.

I don't like the frequent feeling that my life is empty, but I do like believing there is something important for me to do waiting for me and that I can pray for it to be a mighty mountain of challenge as I keep my eyes open for opportunities to serve others. emoticon
I don't like that I need to keep this short, but I do like being able to share more thoughts another time. emoticon

Be well. Let peace fill your hearts. emoticon

    Great blog, Lou!

I like to think of my journey to my goal weight as a fit of stops and starts....as long as I always start and stay started longer than the stop, I win!

You will win too!! Keep at it :)

Thank you, Lou, for such a great blog (yours always are). You've reminded us to look for the silver lining to whatever grey clouds we have, and to never, never give up.

God has great plans for you, and when He's ready, He will reveal them to you, step by step. : ) I pray God's blessings on you, and that He will give you His peace until such times as He's ready to show you the next step.

Lou, it's as if you read my mind--! We may not share all the same things exactly, you and I (you would laff at my high bowling score!), but considering the yin and yang of it all, we are very much alike.

Great blog. And the cool thing is that in many cases, the difference between the thing you don't like and the thing do is something that YOU DID or CAN DO to change it. Even if you can't have everything you want, you can change your life for the better by taking action. emoticon

Very excited to see a blog from you, Lou.
I can relate to quite a few of your "don't like - do likes".

Knowing what bothers you and what you don't like gives you a starting point for what changes can be made to turn it around. Looks like you're moving forwards, slowly but steadily. You'll get to where you want to be!

I have MISSED your blogs SO much, Lou! This is an outstanding one! Funny, I don't hear from you often but I still consider you one of my best sparkfriends!

Your blog has many things that even fit me to a tee, but the others I can understand too. By the look of other replies on this post we ALL missed your blogs.

Sure do hope to see more of you around now! emoticon

Now Lou, we love your blogs, but don't dispare. Life is ten percent what we make it and ninety percent what the lord has planned for us. So just smile each morning, as your given a new day, and be blessed in knowing that your working the process, your special someone is waiting on you also, and you have so many friends, some of which yes we will never meet, but you push me and you help me on my journey and that means the world to me and i'm so sure a lot of others like me. We can only do this one pound at a time and that is what we shall do. emoticon

I love this, Lou! I've really missed reading your blogs. I can relate with many of them (I don't like that I procrastinate either, and I do like that I'm making progress with my book, for example). I loved your honesty! :) There are always things we like and don't like about ourselves and our lives, but it's always good to know and remember that we're not alone in that. Others usually share what we are feeling and thinking.

I hope you had a nice and relaxing weekend!

Writing down the positives and seeing them in print promotes an attitude of gratitude. There are positives & negatives in every day life, but when we choose to focus on the positive it brings more peace and contentment. Good blog, Lou...nice to see you posting again. emoticon
