January 16 -- rebounding weight after stressful week
Wednesday, January 16, 2013
This past week has been really stressful for me. First off I've been pulling extra shifts at work to make enough money to maintain my son's health insurance. Last week I worked 60 plus hours. Our ICU has been running pretty full on this winter, and being one of the most experienced nurses I tend to charge and/or take the sickest patients. Then there was my birthday. Bless my coworkers, they wanted to celebrate it and bought a lovely chocolate cake. I ate more than my fair share of that. Physically I've been dealing with back and hip pain. And last, but not least, I had to put my cat, Cassie, furry friend for 21 years, to sleep. Typical that I ate my way through all of this with fast food, cookies, and pastry. I ran on sugar and caffeine last week and now I'm paying the price.
So today I stepped on the scale. Back to square one. Some of it is water weight, but most of it is just fat.
I really appreciated the comments made on my blog last week, and I agree I'm trying to do too much at one time. So this week I'm just going to concentrate on basics. I'm going to shoot for 10,000 steps per day and log my food intake. To help with the stress and pain, I'm going to stretch for at least 5 minutes before I go to bed. That's my assignment to myself for the week. I'm going to keep it simple and hopefully get some momentum going in the right direction.
