Today was my first day back at the gym. I had to miss two days. On Thursday I had to fast and be on a all liquid diet for a procedure that I was going to have on Friday. So, I had to take my diabetes medicine and keep my numbers from going too low while I consumed only liquids, popsicles, jello, and chicken broth. This was my first time having to do this, and I am surprised that it went so well. I took this day off from work and did not go to the gym or anywhere else because I did not want to run the risk of causing my numbers to bottom out. On Friday, I had my procedure. It was my first ever colonoscopy, which is something that I said that I would never have. The procedure itself was not too bad. It was the awful bitter prep stuff that I had to drink the night before that was the worse part. However, the doctor told me that I could not do any exercise or anything else strenuous for 24 hours following the colonoscopy. The good new is that everything was fine, and I don't have to go through this again for five years.

Why is it that all of the preventive exams that are suppose to be so good for protecting your health make you feel soooo violated. Geez, the doc could of at least bought me dinner first...lol

I swear, I love you to death! That is the most enlightening blog I have read all day! And I am with you. I haven't been the best at keeping my preventative care up when every day is a challenge to keep up with the osteo and degenerative issues at bay. But I swear, when I do have to have one I am going to follow all directions given by the doctor.

My roommate didn't listen to the doc, went through the entire procedure just to have them tell her they had to do it again a weeks later. All because she couldn't NOT eat after 11pm.

That will not happen to me. But I am glad you are all okay and don't have to repeat for 5 years! YAY!

I'm with you, Jackie, some of the tests they put us through are not much fun. However, they can be life saving so what choice do we have? I'm glad you got it done and are good to go for five years!

Have a fabulous weekend, great job getting back to the gym!!

I did it once, nothing was wrong. However it did create problems I had never had before. When they keep telling me it is time to do it again, I tell them to find someone else. The prep was horrendous. I have been told it is not as bad as when I had it, tell them I will take their word for it.

Good for you with having it done and I'm so glad that it turned out good! I know too, that the worst part is the prepping, but so very worth it!! emoticon emoticon
