Anyone tried MFP?

I'm more and more tempted to make an account there.. I'm a member of SP since 2006, I believe.. but I often get frustrated with the buggy, heavy website.. and now we have loads of advertising etc. etc.

SP's app for the iPhone is just terrible (and I paid 4$ for it), without mentioning that the website is a pain in the asparagus to load on the phone, then is crashy. I keep hearing that MFP's app is GREAT and FAST and very complete.. I won't lose weight if I don't count my calories, I think.. but I can't keep doing it with SP because it takes too much time and I have to remember everything during the day because of the poor app quality, then take some more time at home to fill out everything.

*SIGH* I do feel a certain bound to SP, but maybe it's time for me to go try something else.. I don't know yet.

I've lost 114 pounds so far with SP and gone from a size 24w-26w to a size 12a-14a, but have always really disliked the nutrition interface - well pretty much everything here for the same reasons you mentioned.

Recently I bought a Garmin Vivofit because the Activity tracker was one more thing to forget about or use. Plus the vivofit integrates with Endomondo Pro which I use outside, and the step counter inside. That it links to MyFP was a bonus I thought I'd explore and am so glad I have, because I agree, it's so much easier to use. Mostly point and shoot and I really like that. So I agree with you MyFP is much better and easier to use...

I just started using MYFITNESSPAL to log all my food because of it's features. I track carbs & sugars but SparkPeople refuse to make that option available to the members. It's nice to check to make sure I'm not getting an overload of sugar which has many bad side effects for me.

MFP is great for food and fitness tracking. Free and perfect.

But like you, I feel emotionally attached to SP.

I use MFP to track my food and fitness and use SP for everything else. I try to remember to track my food and fitness here but don't always get around to it.

You have to do what is right for you. I love love SP, though I am not a technical person by any means and I still have a very very old phone which only makes calls/receives calls and texting and that is the extent of my cell usage.

    GOOD LUCK with your decision.

Let us know how you like it! I feel pretty loyal to SP! But if the other makes tracking calories easier...I'd use both. I love the Spark community! I can't tell if my problems tracking calories are just me being lazy and in denial!

I saw your blog thru a friend of mine. I have been using MFP for awhile now, and I use it to track my food and my workouts. I use SP mostly for motivation, challenges, etc etc. Definitely try MFP!

emoticon To me SP has been a God send, helping me to lose over 100 pounds.... I just use the Spark for mobile to enter my food and exercise when out and about...It works perfect for that...Maybe you should try that instead...It is free!

I have tried MFP, but I still like SP better, but I have a lot of friends that like MFP better because they have smart phones and the app works better than SP. Maybe use SP for the support like the others have suggested.

I have heard the SP app doesn't work. I came to SP because of the Recipe calculator. That has taught me a lot. I think you can use more than one site. The trick is to stay steady on your path.

I have attempted to use the SP app on my iPhone several times and finally gave up for all the reasons you stated. I started using myfitnesspal this week and so far I am very, very happy with it. The data bas is awesome and I have not yet found a food I eat that's not listed. I will forever be with SP for the friends and support I receive here but will be using MFP for logging my food. Hope you find a solution that works for you.

That's why I keep coming back to SP, too: the people. Who says you can't stick around here for friends, but do all your tracking with MFP?

that is your decision... personnaly, I will always come back because I have built a network of people who are great support to me.
