Stepping Out On Faith

Friday, February 08, 2013

This is my first blog and since I don't journal this seems strange to me, but I am going to give it a try. I have told my doctors that if they would get my migraines under control then I would get my weight under control. While they are not gone by any stretch, they are a lot better than they have been for the past several years. As long as I take my medicine three times a day, get plenty of sleep, get some exercise, don't stay on the computer too long, and all the stars align just right I can get through the day with minimal head pain. The crazy weather we have been having the past several months has not helped, but I have decided that I am going to do what I can to get this weight off even if the universe is not lined up behind me.

Mainly my jump start came when I told my daughter that my husband and I would go to Disney World with her family in November. We took our kids 24 years ago and I remember it as being one of the most tiring times of my life. If it was that bad 24 years ago and over 100 pounds lighter I can only imagine how hard it will be if I do not get this weight down first.

Anyway, I am off to a good start. I have lost 17 pounds in the first 5 weeks and that was mostly by cutting calories. I hope to increase my exercise and continue to lose at a decent rate until I get to be where I want to be.

I'm like you, I don't write in journals. Frankly, I am always doing for others and never taking time for myself. But be proud of yourself that you took the time out to express your feelings and thoughts and I think your new directions in life will definitely payoff and you'll reach your goal with the help of some friends. emoticon

emoticon emoticon Great start! Sparkpeople is a wonderful site to find motivation when/if it lags. Patience and persistance have always been the weak links in my battle to lose weight. While my weight is coming off slower than I would like, it IS coming off. I attribute the difference this time to my participation in the sparkpeople community. So, get to know folks on this site. Join some teams and make some friends. It helps.
