Laundry Procastination...so I'll post a rambling update!

I have so much laundry to do that I'm posting a blog instead. That's what laundry does to me!
We're halfway thru the Sweat to Spring Break challenge at the Y & I'm well on my way to hitting the goal of hitting the 4800miles to Hawaii. If only it really included the vacation, haha! I'll win a t-shirt instead. The good news is that this challenge is pushing me to up my workouts from 3-5 times a wk to 6, even if one of them is usually half phoned in, I've added running (ok, jogging intervals) & I've even branched out a bit & tried Zumba. I'd also like to say that I think the scale/pants size may be on the down turn again, but my weight has fluctuated around the 148-152 range so much, that I won't be counting my chickens just yet!
The bad news is that my kids are getting awfully sick & tired of being in the YMCA Strong Kids Zone (babysitting) 6 days a week. For my youngest, that can occasionally be twice a day-- my fave instructors & classes land on the same day, one in the morning, one in the evening, Spin at 9:30 & Body Pump at 5:15pm. Plus, even if I wanted to stay for Spin in the evening, there's a 2hr limit for babysitting, each class is an hr with a 15min gap in between & set-up time for Pump, so it works better to split it anyway. Anywho, that only happens about once every couple of weeks. But I've even started adding to my regular routine to make it longer. I'd usually spend maybe an hour, 90mins max, other than my occasional double day; I'd go to an hour-long class & be done, & I've been going to my usual class & adding some running afterward, getting me closer to the 2hr mark.
Honestly, 2 hours a day, 6 days a week, I don't think is maintainable for me over the long haul. The kids are getting sick of the Y & I'm already feeling kinda burned out from my schedule revolving around when/what my workout is & how much credit I'm gonna get for the contest. I even stress myself out making sure I stay within the 2hr limit. There's kinda no relaxed feel about it at the moment, although tonight shouldn't be rushed at all, since I'm gonna do a 30min HIIT class & *maybe* add some jogging.
& then my kids stress me out & I remember why working out is such an escape! (Read: bickering brother & sister, my 4-y/o sassing back & whining currently)
On a completely unrelated but incredibly fun note, today is my best friend's 30th birthday!!
Her mom & sister planned an entire day for her this past Saturday. The theme was Roll Out the Red Carpet & it was such a blast! Robin & her two kids recently moved back to Iowa after living out here for nearly 9yrs (a year after we moved out here to Mount Prospect, so we got a whole year of living within a few miles of each other, just like we did growing up, lol). We've had our ups & downs, like any friendship, but have been friends since the 4th grade. So basically, we've gone thru the awkward middle school times, first love, high school, marriage & kids together. That definitely forges some strong bonds, no matter the distance.
She had no idea what activities her mom had planned for her & I'm thankful that my wonderful hubs & friends took care of all 4 kids the WHOLE weekend, so I could drive out & surprise her. We started with a relaxing yoga class taught by her mom in the morning, then they stayed for a full spa treatment while I headed back to my mom's to shower & change, then met up for lunch, shopping & dressing up like movie stars to go out to dinner. When we arrived back at Robin's house, they'd rolled out a red carpet, filled the rooms with balloons & a life-size cutout of the main characters from her fave show, The Vampire Diaries. After taking plenty of silly pictures with the Vampire Diaries cutout, we had cake & dominated some Disney Scene It.
My BFF definitely deserved all the pampering! & as a bonus for myself, I got one of the most fun, relaxing weekends I've had in a looooong time. Sometimes you just need a refresher on who you are as an individual, not just a mom, you know?
I think that's enough procastination for now! Time to make my silly kiddos some lunch, throw ingredients in the crockpot for chili & get tackling that laundry.
