Coffee plan

Sunday, March 03, 2013

Yesterday I sat down with my usual mug of coffee to think about how to cut down on coffee. I quit smoking cold turkey so maybe that will work with this problem too. I have my own coffee maker at work because I don't like the coffee at our office coffee area. So I went out and bought an electric water kettle for my office and a box of green tea yesterday to bring to work tomorrow. My plan will be to gradually substitute green tea and plain delicious water for several of my mugs of coffee. I hope that going down to only one cup eventually will work.

Today being Sunday the coffee issue is different so I just made two cups of coffee instead of my usual full pot and then got out of the kitchen. I plan to go out to the local high school to use their track to find out how fast I can walk now. Last year I was doing 18 minute miles which is in the fair range for my age. I know I've improved this year so I'm going to find out by how much. I'm bringing a bottle of water and tylenol to deal with withdrawal headache I know I will get for having less caffeine today. Wish me luck!

I love the taste of green tea and I don't have to put anything in it. I love to drink something warm in the morning and I'm sure that contributes to my need to drink coffee so I hope that green tea will do it for me.

I have never drank coffee and pretty much only drink water, so never had this problem. BUT about a year ago I tried Decaf. Green Tea... hated it, but kept with it and now enjoy it during our winter months. Still enjoy just having hot water though... hee hee. Good luck to you!!!

Sounds like a great plan! I know you can do this...
I wish I liked the taste of tea but no matter what kind I get, I hate them all.

I have replaced my first cup of coffee on the way to work with green tea as well. It's worked great and I really prefer it now. I will then have a cup of coffee when I get to the office. Hope your plan works!

I used to drink at least two pots a day. Now if I have 2 cups a month that is a lot. Started first just drinking hot water and now just drink a couple of glasses before breakfast. If you quit smoking cold turkey, my money is on you giving up the coffee or regulating it to the amount you desire. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I didn't start drinking coffee until I was 40. Then I worked at a coffeehouse last year and WOW was I spoiled! I was drinking a LOT. Now I have a Keurig, so one cup at a time. Plus the expense keeps me from going too crazy about it. But I do enjoy a nice cup in the morning, and one in the afternoon.

I love tea, too! Have you ever tried Roasted Dandelion Root tea? It has the roasted flavor of coffee, plus it is good for your liver and as a supplement in dieting in general. I need to have sweetener in it, though.

What a great plan!!! Buying the electric tea kettle and green tea already!!! You are on your way to success!! I love green tea as well and use it to substitute for coffee as well. It also aides in weight loss which is an added plus!!

If I have good green tea I don't add anything to it, but if it is not so good, I add a little bit of honey.

You are a brave brave woman. I feel I have to give up/cut down on so much, coffee is not one of those things! I do however drink only decaf. But I'm NOT giving it up!!!!

Good luck with your quest; while I have cut back on my coffee consumption, I do still enjoy between 1-3 cups each morning!!!

Coffee isn't all bad, you know !
Both coffee and tea are loaded with anti-oxidants, and have
    other benefits, too !
I tried giving up coffee, once - years ago, with unsatisfactory results.
    I don't recommend it.
Three cups of coffee a day falls in the allowable range, for caffeine
    consumption.
    All the best !
