All or nothing thinking.

Today Spark Coach wants us to blog about a time when we fell victim to all or nothing thinking. When was the last time you ate something that was fattening or unhealthy and decided you had blown it? So you just kept eating that day or week, because you had all or nothing thinking.

It does happen to me sometimes, but only for a day. It won't last a whole week for me. I might over eat or have pizza and not be able to stop at 2 small pieces...but the next day I get back on track. Not everyone can do that. Fortunately I am able to start over the next day with the attitude that it is a new day.
Exercise isn't that easy for me. As a matter of fact the whole year in 2012 I decided it was more important to get my sleep than exercise. I didn't gain any weight back, but I hurt.

It was a difficult year for me. I couldn't make myself exercise! I just couldn't have that attitude that I had with food.

I almost just didn't care. I lacked the motivation to exercise. There were other areas of my life that I lost motivation in too. Every day was a chore just to do the things I needed to do around the house.
I joined a group at my clinic and that helped me get out of my funk. We had 6 sessions in November and December. AIM-HI is a great program that helped me get active again. I really needed a group to support me like I had with the Diabetes Prevention Program. That was a much longer program and held at the YMCA, so exercise was easier there. Still I relearned lots of good things and started walking during the AIM-HI program. I feel thankful for those two programs.
Now I am losing weight again. I am walking regularly. And I am in the Shape-Up Montana competition. It is amazing how fast the miles add up! We have 5 on our team. Three of us went through the program and two of the group are professionals that work at River Stone Health Clinic. We have a good group.
I am also in the graduate AIM-HI group. We meet once a month. That is wonderful. It is usually the same group of people. Next month we are cooking a lunch. It will be healthy and put together by the dietician at River Stone. We gave our leader a few suggestions and we will see what we have in a month. My mouth is watering already just thinking about it!!
Well, this ended up being longer than I though it would.
Have a great day!
