Bibbulmun Track Virtual Trek Day 12
Friday, April 12, 2013
Today we had an easier trek. We followed the old rail line through jarrah and marri forests into Dwellingup, a small timber mining town. Along the track we spotted a Splendid Fairywren that was an exquisite electric blue, which means he was ready to mate since he is usually brown with a blue tail and ears.
Once we got to Dwellingup, we headed to our rooms for a hot shower and a change of clothes. Several of us then checked out the Visitor Center, which had and exhibition showing the rise and fall of the mill towns in the surrounding area and of the destruction caused by the 1961 bushfire.
We then decided to have dinner at the Blue Wren Cafe in honor of the Splendid Fairywren, also known as a blue wren, that we saw earlier in the day. After all the exercise I have been getting, I decided to splurge on fish and chips for dinner. Now the only thing left to make this day better is a nice soft bed.
