Hotham Valley Tourist Railway Day 14
Saturday, April 13, 2013
Today I decided to take a trip on the historic Dwellingup Forest Train, which runs 8 kilometres from Dwellingup to Etmilyn, along the state's last surviving lightly built developmental railway and is pulled by a historic Diesel Locomotive. The trip included a running commentary about WA's early saw milling and railway history.
At Etmilyn there was a layover so that the passengers could enjoy the Etmilyn Forest Heritage Trail, which is a 1 km loop through the Etmilyn Forest. The trail features jarrah, blackbutt, red gum, blackboy, and banksia trees as well as a variety of palms and ferns unique to this area of the forest.
This little excursion provided a nice relaxing afternoon with a little exercise thrown in, but it is now time to get ready to hit the track again tomorrow; supplies to buy, laundry to wash, and packing to do, as well as getting a good nights sleep.
