Bibbulmun Track Virtual Trek Day 18
Thursday, April 18, 2013
We left Collie this morning headed toward the Collie River and Mungalup Dam. We then passed through the Wellington Forest where we saw several quokkas foraging for food. We later crossed over the Glen Mervyn Dam and headed downhill to the small settlement of Mumballup.
We stopped at the Mumballup Forest Tavern, affectionately known as Mumby Pub, for a cold drink before starting what was described as "a butt-burning climb through farmland to the Noggerup Conservation Park". The climb lived up to it's description! (And I thought walking squats were bad.)
Once we got to the Noggerup Conservation Park we were greeted by a spectacular virgin jarrah forest that displayed how the landscape must have appeared before being modified by European settlers. After that strenuous climb, we were all ready to make camp at the Noggerup campsite and turn in early.
