No Distractions: I was thinking more about this while eating my breakfast this morning. Eating with no distractions what-so-ever. That is hard to do, for me it is. Even if I don't have the TV on or in front of the computer, I usually read while I am eating. Yes,
I live and eat alone. It is so important in anything I do to be in that moment. That means not even thinking about anything but what is going right at that moment, talking to someone in person or on the phone, spending time with partner, children. Eating is a great way to learn this important lesson, being mindful, be in that moment. I think about all that I could be missing when I am not mindful of what I am doing. I had cereal this morning, a very delicious cereal with granola, fruit & nut, a tangerine, cheese toast. I enjoyed every taste every bite. What if I put being mindful to everything I do. Washing dishes for example- I came across this poem years ago and it tells alot.
"THANK GOD FOR DIRTY DISHES"
Thank God for dirty dishes;
They have a tale to tell.
While others may go hungry,
We're eating very well
With home, health, and happiness,
I shouldn't want to fuss;
By the stack of evidence,
God's been very good to us.
This can apply to lot of "things" I do in my life. I think that the lesson to being mindful teaches me to be grateful.
