Balingup Day 21
Saturday, April 20, 2013
Today I decided to just take it easy. After breakfast, I strolled around town checking out the various stores. I then headed over to the Old Cheese Factory Craft Centre, the largest arts and crafts centre in the southern hemisphere, which was established in 1933 and then closed in 1977 due to the dairy farms in the area becoming uncompetitive. At the craft centre, I found a gorgeous alpaca sweater that I just had to have. Luckily they offered shipping so that I didn't have to take it on the track with me.
Next I went to the Balingup Lavender Farm to check out their products. I wound up getting a few very pretty little silk embroidered dried lavender sachets and to top it off I had a dish of lavender ice cream. It is hard to explain what it tasted like, but it was light, creamy, flowery deliciousness.
When I found out that I could book a message and enjoy some aromatherapy, I gave in to the self-indulgence before hitting the track again. While at the spa I also enjoyed Devonshire Tea, a fancy way of saying tea with cream, with a couple of finger sandwiches and a few wonderful small sweets.
Later, feeling totally rested and relaxed I had a juicy steak with a hasselback potato and salad to fortify myself for the next leg of the track. It was then off to bed for a good nights sleep.
