2lbs a week

I have come to realize that losing a little weight at a time is more realistic then trying to be all biggest loser style and drop 10lbs a week. For the longest time I thought that if I couldn't at least lose 5lbs a week I was a failure. I have recently had an epiphany that came to me one day while I was watching the biggest loser finale on Hulu. I looked at the end results of the contestants and some of them had lost a hundred pounds or more and I thought to myself wow they had a lot of dedication and also help to lose so much so quickly. I started thinking that I wanted to lose a hundred pounds but I also knew it would not happen quickly because I am living in the real world lol. So I figure with 52 weeks in a year I can aim for an easy goal of 2lbs a week weight loss. To me that number is realistic and attainable. I always aim to high and get really disappointed when I don't get the results I want. So I am coming at this with a completely new out look. I am looking forward to this challenge and meeting it head on. Good luck to every one this week.

    Good for you! They say that losing more than 2 pounds a week isn't healthy; I believe that taking time to lose the weight helps us to adapt to a new lifestyle, gives our bodies a chance to adjust gradually, and helps us to not feel deprived while losing. I averaged .6 pounds per week during my weight loss - it took me a little over a year to lose 50 pounds, but I've now kept it off for 10 years. As long as the trend line is heading in the right direction (or even staying stable!), you're a great success.

    I think your thoughts are right on! I've read that we should try to have a safe weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week. I would love it if I could lose 1 pound a week. My problem is that I back slide all the time. I got out of the 200's, but am having trouble getting out of the 190's. Almost made it once and then I had a few weeks of gains.......AGGGH! But I'm back at it again.
