2 More Marathons Done

So, work changed a lot of things starting in January, and SparkPeople was blocked for months. It just opened back up, so I'm tentatively back. I have tons going on and have totally lost track of everyone here, so I'm overwhelmed for now.

What's new with me?
I ran the Cincy Flying Pig marathon on 5/5/13 in 4:27, about 7 minutes off my goal time. I had to stop for 5 minutes at the half due to a heart palpitation and lost the 4:20 pace group. Running the second half solo was lonely and boring, but I just kept trucking. The finish was a little anti-climactic! Good race, though, and I'd do it again.

Since Cincy was a teeny let-down, I signed up for the Cleveland marathon on 5/19. But, what happened last year during my second marathon (which was 3 weeks after my first?) - major IT band pain. :-( Wah-wah-waaaaaahh.. Could have and should have called that one. I power walked the last 6 miles and grit my teeth and ran the finishing chute. It was knee-buckling pain that was impossible to run through. Ugh. 4:48 for that one (Yes, I was on track for a 4:03 finish through the half and 4:10 (which was the pace group I was running with) through mile 18). Having to walk that far was a little sad, but it really didn't bother me that much.

I'm planning to lay off the full marathons (or at least having a time goal) for a bit. I usually change my mind, but last year it took months for me to come back after my IT band went wacko (and it is my other knee this year!) and I'm not pushing it.

Instead - back to lifting. I did good through most of March before I just stopped lifting. I have a wedding dress to look good in, after all. ;-)

Planning the wedding has been ok. I'm not doing a lot, so I'm keeping the stress down. Plenty of times I've just thought that we should have just gotten married already. I hope we don't regret the big celebration.

My diet has been not great. I've been maintaining 162-164 (for about the past year, really), but I'd like to lose about 10 pounds of fat. I know when I start lifting again I won't see the scale drop like crazy, which is fine. I just need to cut out the sugar and sneaking snacks. It's not good for me and it's making cravings even worse but indulging pretty much daily (or multiple times per day).

My running was going great this year, though. I ran 130-150 miles per month for Jan-Feb, then 190 in Mar, and 150 in Apr. May is going to be less than 100, most likely, even with 2 marathons (recovery sucks). I haven't had a less than 100 mile month since January or February LAST year. :-/ I might have to get out there in the next week and a half even if my knee hurts. My pride can't handle it!

I hope everyone has been doing well. Any big races that you've done so far or have coming up? Have you changed your eating habits for the better (or worse or questionable (like me!))? Anything new and exciting? :-)

    O-M-G! I am super happy to hear from you! I wished I know you were at Cleveland..... my DH ran a 4:22 this year and I was out at mile 25 cheering for everyone! I actually got a free entry this year, so I ran the HM with the 4:10 pace group- Dan was trying to keep up with them as long as he could.
    Congrats on a tough race- while it didn't get as hot as last year, it was indeed hot and with the pain--- ouchy :(

    I hope you are pulling out your roller ASAP!

    P.S. I have about 10 lbs of "fat" to loose myself-- maybe we should be accountabuddies. I am also looking for getting back into lifting more- after the race June 9th.

    I just came back too, only I was away because I was lazy and didn't work out or eat right.

    Congrates on your marathons, even if you were slightly disappointed with your time. That's two more marathons than most people have run!!!

    Nice to see you back! Congrats on the marathons but be nice to your knee and give it time to heal! I ran two halfs over the past two months but haven't blogged about them - but I'm signed up for the NYC Marathon this year so I plan on blogging through my training for sure!

    Good to see you! Wow! That is a lot going on! Not much different here. I have focused on getting more variety in my freggies - more color mostly. It helps me feel better. I also went back to Irish dance lessons after being out around 2 1/2 years - feels great except it has reaggravated my Morton's Neuroma, so my feet are back to being painfully numb. :( But I will try to keep dancing. :)
