It is nearly holiday time

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

We are off on holiday a week on Saturday and I am really looking forward to the change as it seems to have been a long time this winter especially with the weather not being that good.
My sleeping is rubbish at the moment, I know it is down to stress and I have tried all sorts of things but nothing works in the long term, I am on tablets but they don't seem to work very well either so I am going to talk to my GP.
Pleased that at long last the weather seems to picking up and my garden is nearly tidy.

    Hello ElaineAnne,
Hello from sunny Florida! I just found your blog and will be a new follower.
I also can sympathize with your sleep issue. When you see your GP, ask about Doxepin. I suffered for years and years with itchy skin, sores from scratching, itchy feet etc. Thanks to my dermatologist, he started me on Doxepin and now its all gone. And yes, he said it was a reaction to stress also.
Good luck and enjoy the vacation.

I know you are looking forward to a well earned rest! Sleep just seems to elude me whatever I try so I sympathize with you. The only thing that does help is getting on a routine where your body prepares for sleep time as you approach it. Too much sleep meds actually screw up your ability to get real rest and sleep, because it may prevent you from achieving the deeper sleep stages REM or Stage D. I have tried most meds and they don't work with or without being narcotic. I am sure they do on others or they wouldn't be on the market long, but I fight them too much for them to work well. I hope your GP has some ideas other than medicine that may help you.
