Getting Real

Big changes for me. A few weeks ago, I got a job in Germany that starts in August - which means I am not just starting a new job, but I'm also moving and changing countries!! (I'll be teaching physics at a high school in Thuringia).
The stress of change and of dealing with the logistical and practical arrangements, ON TOP of my normal stress of working(ish) on my PhD and doing my current job means that I have been SERIOUSLY SLACKING!!!!
My running is down to about once a week, as is my yoga. I haven't been tracking my food or drinking enough water, which means I've been less than fantastic diet-wise.
On top of this, my cousin visited for a week, and I took that as a gigantic, blank-check excuse to drink a lot of beer and wine and eat all of the tourist food (chocolate, crêpes, waffels, fries, beer... everything Belgium is known for.... not exactly health food!).
Luckily, I walked around a lot with her while she was being a tourist - and she's a runner, so we did go for one morning run.... so it wasn't all hedonistic decadence - but close.
SO - I'm taking responsibility for poor decisions, and getting back at it! I went running this morning and I'm going to yoga tomorrow. I ate really really well today (including a lovely glass - but just one - of red wine in the sun). I picked up new running shoes. I put too many miles on my old ones!!!!!! (what?? who am I?) They started rubbing my toes and one of my toenails fell off because of it (gross!!). New shoes is totally motivating, because good shoes are not cheap, and I am not rich (teacher, remember?)!
I weighed in: gained 2 lbs (but I guess I gained 3 total and then lost 1). Not bad, and I'm happy I "caught" myself before it slipped into 20 - hey, it has happened to me before (read my profile).
It's a new day!
