Reflect and No Excuses
Saturday, July 20, 2013
It's six weeks through this BLC round and time for reflection on my progress (anything for points! Actually I did this already with my team on Wed when I had gained a pound - so it wasn't just for the points but more to kick myself in the ass).
First, the positives:
I've been exercising regularly - biking, hiking, ST - averaging at least an hour a day.
I've also been tracking most of my food most of the time. My BHAG was to track at least 6 out of 7 days and average at least a CICO deficit of 500. The first 6 weeks i tracked my CICO 35 out of 42 days so just shy of 6 out of 7 and my deficit was an average of 549 for those days.
The negatives and therefore what I plan to change re my goals:
Since I haven't been losing weight (I just bounce down and up a pound or two each week), it means I'm either underestimating my food when tracking or overestimating my fitness - or on the days i'm not tracking blowing it entirely!
SO for the rest of the round I will try my best to:
1) Track EVERY DAY;
2) I know I will never measure food amounts or take too long to the exact calories of something not listed easily in spark, so I will add at the beginning of the day something like "olive oil or butter" that is about 200 calories to make up for possible underestimating
3) Try for a CICO of 700 or better - at least 6 out of 7 days
4) No sweets - or at least 6 out of 7 days - I think it's easier to cut them out entirely than to just limit as it's hard for me not to take the 2nd or 3rd cookie
Excuses: While I was cycling with girlfriends yesterday we were reflecting on making excuses to drink good wine and eat good chocolate when:
- we exercise
- we are stressed
- we are celebrating
- we are traveling
- we are out of a routine
and on and on....meaning, everything is an excuse :)
SO whenever I hear my inner little whiny self - or my "let's have fun and party" self start to grab for that extra drink or food, I am going to try to remember my teammates who have been working hard AND losing weight AND not allowing themselves these excuses!
When in doubt guess
