Revival: Begins with Us...

Saturday, July 27, 2013

He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

Psalm 72:8

Welcome back to our ongoing study on Praying for Revival for our land. Canada, United States and surrounding Nations

Today we will look at how revival begins in the heart of the believer and how one needs to prepare for revival.

In order for Revival to touch our Country and our Communities it first must begin in our own hearts. Revival starts within the heart of the believer first and then as your own heart and life is changed it then reaches out and touches others.

Scripture states in 2 Chronicles 7:14- If My people who are called by My name shall humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

As the individual begins to seek the Lord and turns from their wicked ways, God hears and He said He would forgive our sins and would heal our land. There are certain conditions for us to follow if revival is going to take place.

As we seek to turn away from our sin and seek to have a new heart, be renewed in our minds God will hear and begin to do a mighty work in us. We need to first desire change and be vessels that will bring glory and honor to God.

In order for Christians to meet the conditions for revival that is stated in 2 Chronicles 7:14 we must do the following:

1. Humble Ourselves (1 Peter 5:6)
2. Pray Effectively (James 5:16; Luke 18:1)
3. Seek God’s Face (Jeremiah 29:13
4. Turn from our Wicked Ways (1 John 1:8-9).

Praying for Revival involves personal renewal and confession of all known sin

Praying for Revival is Repenting from Sin and turning away from those things that hinder our walk with God.

Hosea 14:1 O Israel, return to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity

Jeremiah 29:13 And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

All down through history men & women like Charles Finney, Charles Spurgeon, A. B. Simpson, Aimee Simpleton McPherson were all touched and transformed by the Power of God when they began to hunger and thirst after righteousness and truly seek the Lord. Their lives were changed. They were instrumental in reaching and touching many lives for the Kingdom of God. Signs and Wonders followed their ministries, many were healed and many were delivered from alcohol and other bondages. It all began in the hearts and lives of these men and women who began to earnestly seek the Lord and turn from their wicked ways.

All across our Nation pockets of Revival are still breaking out and lives are being changed. What God has done down through the ages He can still do today.

For Example: On April 7, 2004 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada a congregation at Bethel Pentecostal Church experienced a mighty revival when they began to seek the Lord in Prayer. This congregation experienced 50 straight days of Revival meetings. People were traveling from great distances just to be a part of those meetings. Lives were greatly impacted for the Kingdom of God and their little community in Sarnia was forever changed by those meetings that went on for 50 days.

As we seek the Lord with all our hearts we too will see a great move of God in our own lives and that of our land. As we come before Father God and truly seek His Face and repent of our sins He will forgive us and heal our land.

God is looking for a pure heart, a heart that has been washed and cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb, a heart that is set on fire for God. God knows our hearts, He knows everything about us, when God sees that we are coming before Him with hands that are clean we will see the mighty move of God’s Spirit upon our lives and upon our land.

Let This Be Our Prayer Today:

Lord Begin a Work in Me Today. Revive my Heart, Renew my Mind, Cleanse me from my Sin, Make me a Vessel that is Pleasing to You!
