Stop Raging on Yourself

Saturday, July 27, 2013

I have made it an art raging on myself. It's time stop and start with some self-love and appreciation. It's time to recognize when goals are met and reward ourselves.

I have been trying to change my mindset about this and have been making slow changes.

When I see my friends raging on themselves I see how hurtful this behavior really is and how detrimental it can be to our mental health and our weight/fitness progress.

So, I challenge you to stop saying things to yourself that you would never say to another person in your lifetime!!!!!

Start loving yourself and telling yourself positive affirmations like:

I accept myself today unconditionally just as I am.

From every angle and at any weight, I am a beautiful person today, tomorrow, and always.

I am worthy of health and love and wellness.

I have chosen to believe in me.

When I believe in myself, anything is possible.

I love me.

I am fan-effing-tastic!

I effing rock!

I am limitless!

I am enough!

I want to be me!

Please let me know how you're doing with this! I know most women and some men struggle with this. Please add to these positive affirmations and let's block out the rage with positivity!

I have really been trying to be more aware of this lately. I realize that my children are listening to me and that the way I perceive and talk about myself will deeply impact their own self-esteem, especially my daughter. Thanks for the reminder!!

    You are SO right.

The effect also of letting go of that self recrimination
Is that it frees me to stop expecting so much of everyone else.

I think when we allow ourselves to be imperfect (because we are anyway whether we admit it or not) is that it gives us an inner calm that seeps into everything we do.

I don't know when it became acceptable to belittle ourselves and degrade ourselves until there is nothing left. I learned this lesson at a retreat. We had to do a lot of writing there. One exercise was to write what others say about you. We did Nd then we read that aloud. Next we wrote what we say about us. We did and then read that aloud. That should have been enough because the difference was glaring. We weren't done yet. We had to write the truth about us. WOW!! We all strive for perfection and when we aren't perfect we degrade ourselves. Who said we have to be perfect anyway? We Re all perfect just the way we are. Beauty comes from the inside out.

I am guilty of this--but with the help of SparkPeople, have been slowly changing my inner dialog. Lately I say stuff like:
    I can do this.
    I am amazing.
    I have come so far.
Thanks for the reminder! We do need to be kind to ourselves.
