I had a groupon for an unlimited month of crossfit so I thought I'd give it a try. I watched youtube videos to see what to expect. I really wanted to be able to do it and I'm so mad at myself for quitting after only one class.
The first week we had 3 intro classes to learn proper form. I've been doing squats for years but never that low and for that long. I left the first night jelly legged and in pain. All through the first night I had terrible muscle cramps(dehydration?) and my legs were killing me.
Today is four days later and my legs are nearly normal except the super tightness in my knees. I think I was ashamed that I couldn't do it as well as my co-workers who went with me, so I stupidly squatted farther than my legs should.
I really don't like to give up on things but I didn't go back for fear of a permanent injury. My knees are pretty bad as is and I could just see me blowing a knee out. So, I've decided to try to work my way up to crossfit by way of they Y. I called the Y and they will give you a 3 day pass to make sure you like it. The one near me has tons of classes, pool, sauna. Even hot yoga which I've always wanted to try.
