Focus T25 First Week Review

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

I decided to start the fitness program called Focus T25. It is a 50 week program that comes complete with workouts on DVD's, a nutrition guide and workout calendar. I think these types of programs are awesome, especially for people who are new to fitness and nutrition, and don't know where to start or where to find that perfect combo that works for them. All the guess work has been taken out. All you do is follow the designed workout schedule and eat the suggested meals. Little by little you start to learn what works for you.

I chose this program, because I wanted something that would challenge me. I was falling into a rut. I was getting too comfortable with my workouts and I needed something that would help me feel that drive again, or that thrill when you realize that you just got better at something that use to be really hard for you. That feeling for me is progress, and it adds to my momentum. The real selling point that got me is that all the workouts are only 25 minutes.

I'm one week into the Focus T25 program, and holy puddles of sweat Batman!!! Shawn T makes it worth your while every second of those 25 minutes. The exercises lean more towards athletic training or conditioning, and from start to finish there are no breaks. The exercises are focused and controlled, so there's never a time when you have to cut corners on proper form in order to be out of control trying to get in as many reps as possible. I think this is how you get such a fantastic workout in a short amount of time.

My opinion of it so far is that I like it, and it is challenging for me. It's going to take some time, but the results I'm going get will be awesome. On top of going through the workouts for the first time I followed the 5 Day Fast Track eating plan. I cut my calories down to about 1200 a day in order to shake up the system and ramp up my metabolism, then for the rest of the program my calorie intake will be a little higher, so I can keep up with the workouts. Overall the first week has been refreshing and an eye opener. I realized there were areas I was starting to slip in.
