Shaking Up My Workouts -- How About Just Getting There?

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Spark Coach asked me to write a blog today, detailing how I intend to shake up my workouts. Okay, sure. Here's some honesty for you. I've really been struggling lately, and today was my first day back at the gym in five weeks. Yep, five, long weeks. I got there at 7am and had just fifteen minutes to exercise before I had to leave for work.
When I arrived at work, I mentioned I'd squeezed in fifteen minutes on the elliptical trainer this morning. One of my co-workers said, "What's the point of that? Only fifteen minutes?"
I just smiled and said, "It's better than nothing."

That is the truth. Did I mention I've been struggling? Funny thing is that today, after getting up and going to the gym, I found it easier to stick to my calorie restriction. I wasn't as hungry and I didn't crave junk food nearly as much. I've ended the day within my 1500 calorie limit for the first time in five weeks. I feel great.

Sure it was just fifteen minutes. In fifteen minutes, I burned 100 calories. I gained motivation. I remembered how much I enjoy going to the gym.

I'll be back there on Friday morning. That's a promise. How will I shake up my workouts? By getting there, and working out. By getting there by 6:30am so I have forty-five minutes instead of fifteen to workout.

It's a start. Two steps forward. Yay, me!

Good blog, I was pretty much a conch potato before I started Sparking; so, I count everything I do towards activity and love that it keeps increasing even if it's only 3 minutes of a new exercise or getting out of the house JUST to MOVE MORE.

I try to focus on how much better I'm feeling and don't do it to lose more weight or for my looks, but, being relaxed.. I seem to DO MORE and feeling my energy level increase is worth it. (Remind yourself how hard things were at your highest weight and if I were you, I'd pretend I'd never stopped exercising.. Fake your way back into success by pretending your still hardcore and that you never stopped! I did that once because I couldn't find it within to try one more time; so, I pretended I was still going strong and lost another 35 lbs ..was like the stumble was a part of the program, it taught me how to get back on the horse after being bucked off.) I hope you keep keeping on.. you can do this! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I agree with you totally! Even if my exercise is 10 or 15 minutes, I feel MUCH better than if I did nothing. emoticon
