POST-SURGERY DAY 3 (MONDAY)

Monday, August 26, 2013

Hello "those-of-you-interested-in-my
-gastric-sleeve-adventure",

It's now Monday, Post Day 3 (surgery was Friday morning). Last night I slept in my own bed, with my own CPAP, with my own wife.... and all went pretty well. Got up 3 times to hit the toilet, last time at 4am, I just stayed up. Took some painkiller (liquid vicodin) then sipped water and read a book til six am, when my wife got up to go to work. I went back to bed and slept another 3 hours. So I was well rested today.

I felt much better today. I even moved to my liquid protein shakes and yogurts! I had two shakes and one greek yogurt. I also drank about 30 ounces of chicken bouillon (low sodium).
My general Doc told me to make sure I do bouillon, because the salt will help me retain what little water I take in. Drinking water is harder, since I can only do it in sips... so you're sipping all day long. Dehydration is a concern. But my Doc was very happy with my progress.

I think I'll save my other yogurt for later tonight if I'm hungry... but I'm just not. I am getting used to that fact. I'm just not hungry.

My stomach has a big bruise under my lowest incision point (above my belly button), but the rest look pretty good. They don't hurt much at all. Like a surface cut. The gas still is my biggest pain, but I've been burping a lot more today (exciting!). I still haven't had much of a BM, but I'm hoping soon, now that I'm taking in more food.

Well, not much more for today. Stay tuned. And thanks for the encouragement I've gotten from many of you. It really does help.

Scott

Hang in there. I have friends who have done different types of surgery for weight lose and they all say the first couple of weeks are the hardest ... getting over the mental "need" to eat. They were not hungry just missed the act of eating.

Make sure your doc agrees ... but the gas will go away the more you move around.

    You can do this.
