Hmmmm ... Ok, so I have quit smoking, and I am watching what I eat, hoping to control my diabetes and lower my high blood pressure. I need to lost weight, and get my self active. I think though, active just means participating in life.
It's been a long time since I participated in life, got out there and took chances, made changes and experienced risk and excitement.
I suppose the time is now... In February I turned 50 - perhaps I have another 15 years left with Gods Good graces perhaps 20, but I haven't lived in these past 50 years, I really would like to make whatever is left of life ... count!

    Thank you new spark friends for the encouragement. I have my difficulty in keeping with the program. I have been more focused on controlling what I eat and trying to add some walking in my day, but fell off the no smoking cart.

    The other day, I just felt like I needed a cigarette, and well - Need I say more.

    One day at a time, one issue at a time and right now, my weight and getting my blood sugar under control before I find myself on insulin is more my concern.

    I hope to be able to offer support to all of you as well.

    Hello Rick1157,

    I am having that same problem with smoking. I quit, and do well for a couple of weeks, but then I have a cigarette here and there. I have been maintaining a limit of 3-4 a day, but I cannot make the changes in eating at the same time quit smoking.

    Perhaps, let's get one thing under control and then put some energy into the next issue. I also wish you luck. Keep me posted on your progress. I will be rooting for you. emoticon

    I was just diagnosed with diabetes 2 weeks ago and I turned 50 Feb. 4th of this year. My doctor told me to walk 30 minutes a day and I am doing that. Haven't managed to quit smoking yet and am not sure I can so for now I am cutting down.
    Wish you much luck in doing what you need to do for you!!!!!
