October 16, 2013 Spark Coach Challenge

Today's challenge is particularly hard for me. The challenge is to slow down and savor your food. I am a fast eater. When I was working I had 30 minutes to eat lunch. Well, I am not proud to say I was also a smoker at the time. If I ate quickly I could smoke a couple cigarettes and since we had a designated smoking area that might be the only ones I would get in 8 - 10 hours.

I am pleased to say I gave up smoking many years ago. It just got way too expensive. It wasn't even because of my health! Sad, but true. Anyway, I am no longer around cigarettes as I choose not to go to places where people smoke. It is a lot easier now than it used to be. Now that people can't smoke in many public buildings or other places. emoticon

So today I will slow down when I eat. It won't be easy. I also will not eat in my car. That is an even bigger challenge for me!! Wish me luck!

    It took me over 7 tries and I am not sure how many years to quit smoking. Every time I quit I would gain weight and I didn't want to be any heavier, so I would start again. Of course, I would be heavier each time I quit smoking. I think it was 2005 when I finally said enough is enough. I can't afford to smoke. I quit that time "cold turkey!" emoticon

    I'm shocked that you could give up smoking, I hear it's REALLY hard. Too bad foods of low character weren't as expensive ;)

    Yeah you on the smoking quit-even if motivated by cost, that is such a huge victory!
    As for slowing down-yes, it's hard, but honestly, it gives us a chance to really experience our food-an food can give us such complex, interesting and satisfying flavors when we S-L-O-W down and truly taste it!

    That is an EXCELLENT reason to quit smoking. And it's better for your health! That is a really good challenge this morning. I eat too fast too. (and in front of the TV a lot which is not good). Congrats on NOT being a smoker anymore! That is a tough habit to break. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
