My Family Needs Help
Friday, October 18, 2013
I am pregnant with my third. I lost my job in September, and my unemployment claim has been denied (trying to appeal). I struggle with mental illness and a personality disorder. Add being pregnant, and finding work has gotten really difficult.
We are trying to get my mother moved back out to our area for mutual support - she is on disability, but could help us out both financially (a bit) and with childcare and moral support. We have room for her in our basement, but it needs a bit of work before someone could actually live in it.
We are getting behind on our bills already. We have already had to get into our very small savings to make the rent for October. I am spending my days job-seeking, and trying to find ways to cut costs, but I don't know how we'll make it through the end of my pregnancy (due December 30) and recovery time before I can try to return to the work force.
As I've said, I am actively looking for work. I am appealing my unemployment claim. I am applying for food stamps and TANF. I am asking friends and friends of friends for odd-jobs. I am researching ways to cut costs even further and how to live on just my husband's income for the time being. I am not just sitting around waiting for a handout. But it has come to my attention that I may just need more than is readily available to me right now.
I have swallowed every last ounce of my pride and have established an online fundraiser at youcaring.com to help us meet some of the expenses I've detailed. I appreciate any help I can get. I appreciate if people would simply spread the word and get my story out. Please visit the fundraiser website, and then post a link to all your social media.
Thank you for your time, your understanding, and your help.
Words can't express my gratitude in this time of unprecedented need for me and mine.
Please help me spread the word.
