Last night, after dinner and reading to the kids, hubby was fast asleep in bed. It was 8:30 and we hadn't gone on our walk yet. I still really wanted to go. So, I put the dog on a leash and donned my white runner's jacket and we went out the door. It was a bit eery to be out in the dark with just me and my dog (a shepherd/doberman mix) but we live in a nice neighborhood where the scariest things out there are the 4-legged critters (coyotes, bobcats and likely, a mountain lion or two) and the occasional car. The coyotes and bobcats wouldn't bother us and we could easily avoid the cars.
I stuck close to home, jogging up and down every cul-de-sac on our closest cross-street. 30 minutes and roughly a mile and a half later, we were home and I felt accomplished. I'm usually a walker, not a jogger, and I never go alone so I was proud both for picking up the pace and for being independent enough to go by myself. AND I did all of this despite it being the 1st day with my monthly visitor...that's a feat in and of itself!
