DECORATING FOR HALLOWEEN--A & I GHASTLY GHOSTS BSG TEAM

Thursday, October 24, 2013

I love to decorate for Halloween. Because I live in an apartment, I can no longer decorate outside, which I miss a lot. So I decorate a lot in my apartment. With fall and Halloween at the same time, and with a lot of beautiful colors, it makes it that much more fun. I always find little things throughout the year that relate to Halloween, then put them out with any that I have had from last year. I even decorate in the bathroom a little. I guess because I live alone, I can decorate as much or as little as I want. I usually decorate a lot. I think it makes my apartment so much more "homey". I have an assortment of all kinds of things. I really look forward to this time of year, almost as much as Christmas. I don't usually do anything special for Halloween, but I might this year. I know at school with the 5th graders, they will probably do something. Tomorrow at work all the 5th grade teachers, and I are bringing all kinds of things (food, that is) that relate to Halloween. So I bought some tootsie pops, and wrapped each one in a napkin, and put an orange rubber band around the base of each tootsie pop, so it forms a head with the napkin making the rest of the napkin the body of the ghost. Then I added eyes to each. I made over 40 of them. They are so cute!!!! emoticon I have really enjoyed making them. Doing all these things makes Halloween that much more "special."

I have tons of Halloween decorations and I gave away 5 boxes the middle of last month. I take Halloween and fall decorations up to the nursing home and decorate rooms for 3 little old ladies that I visit on a really regular basis. I have a box of assorted sizes of the foam jack-o-lanterns that I will try to get up to Doris's room on Sunday. She loves the decorations the most. I take bags of trick-or-treat candy up there and donate it because so many people take their children up there instead of letting them go from house to house. They start asking for candy donations about mid-September. I got a few cases of the mini-bags of popcorn and some Halloween pencils and the little 4-pack of crayons too. I'd rather they give that stuff instead of candy but suppose the kids don't want it anyway!

I think a teacher did the same thing for us once with the tootsie pops and napkin. You should take pics of your decorating. Enjoy celebrating Halloween with the kids! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I can remember making "ghost lollipops" for my first graders when I was teaching. Thanks for reminding me of a pleasant memory!
