Last month I finally bought a Fitbit One. For about a year I had been reading about them, and Spark Friends mentioned being at the top of the steps list but I never really knew what they were talking about. I considered buying one then for a brief moment, but discarded the idea. I didn't track steps anyway. Plus I kept a manual food and exercise diary for Spark. I didn't think it was in any way relevant to me.
I couldn't have been more wrong. I absolutely love my Fitbit. I am maximizing it's use and have now moved all my tracking to my Fitbit Dashboard. What do I do with my Fitbit that is so amazing to me?
I used to keep a manual food diary, but now I enter my foods for calories in on my Fitbit Dashboard. If I can't find my food, I find something similar. I am not going to be anal about it b/c in fact I think I cheated and under reported my calories anyway when I kept a manual diary. Last night I had eaten 1434 calories and only burned 1325 calories, so I had to exercise in the living room doing push-ups, leg lifts and running in place to re-balance calories in to calories burned. OK, so I am a little anal after all. LOL
I have a goal of 6000 steps a day. Last night I was at 5,441, so I jogged in place until I hit 6,000. On every other day, my steps are in the 12,000 range because on those days I work out. I have been good about working out 3x a week. It is the other days of the week that I am trying to get up to 6,000.
To lose 1# a week, I need to have a 3500 calorie deficit per week, or 500 calorie deficit daily. That didn't happen yesterday. Maybe today. It amazes me that without exercise, my caloric burn is so low. That explains why I have not made a lot of progress. Hopefully that will change.
I track my water on it too with a goal of 8 glasses. I enter it when I do my food.
My weight and sleep are synch'd with Spark. and that is just another benefit for me.
By joining Fitbit Users Unite Spark Team, and entering my numbers on weekly and monthly challenges helps me to understand what moves my numbers and what I need to do to move them. Lately I've been noticing that my calories burned and my steps do not necessarily move in sync. The Fitbit Dashboard allows me to monitor my daily calorie deficit.
So you see, dear friends, the Fitbit is more than just a step tracker. So much more. And just this week I have added just a few Spark friends to my friends list and we can all encourage one another to...
STEP IT UP!
