Can you recommend a protein powder? There are so many of them! And any creative ways to use them besides in smoothies and oatmeal. I simply do not get enough protein! Thanks for any help!

I have used Jay Robb whey and also Vega and many others and then recently I just started adding white beans- about 1/4 cup and sometimes quinoa. It actually tastes better than some of the powders. Jay Robb tastes good but it has stevia and that is ok with me when I know how much but I don't think it is a good idea to use too much of that. Anyway with the beans and home made nut milk and quinoa I am getting a good amount of protein as well as fiber. Plus I add greens and some fruit- just enough fruit to sweeten. Also bean and quinoa that I cook are much cheaper. maybe some day I may do some sort of sprouting thingy.... 2421 days ago

I seem to go through phases when I get plenty of protein in my diet (so don't need my shakes) or times (like now) when I don't so NEED the shakes. I already commented that I use Muscle Milk protein powder, but what I forgot to add is that I add 2 tablespoons of PB2 powder to my shakes. If you aren't familiar with it, it is peanut butter that has had almost all of the oil removed so the 2 tb. only adds 45 calories while giving me 5 more grams of protein and a great flavor. 2540 days ago

We used to used Shaklee Protein Powder and just mix it with water in a glass. Been awhile though. It was good! Shaklee products are very good, but on the expensive side. Protein bars are a good option too, if you can find them without a lot of sugar. Hope you find some answers. 2542 days ago

You can use it in baking; mixed with yogurt; added to coffee. I would add it to pancakes for the kids, and also into the muffins I would make & freeze for myself. 2542 days ago

I picked up a protein powder called Body Fortress with Whey at WalMart some time ago in strawberry and haven't used it yet. So I need more ideas too. I think that there's an article here on SP that gives ideas and recipes. I just need to get more guts to try the powder. I bought it with good intentions and in the meantime I knew that I'm skittish with protein powder with getting so burned out with drinking it with Herbalife so long ago, but I keep thinking too that I need more protein, so..............Maybe with your help I can really get going with it!! 2564 days ago

I have a Whey Protein powder from Wal-Mart, lasts forever. I have chocolate and vanilla. If you drink coffee, you can even put in just a bit as a creamer. I don;t use creamer but the vanilla protein powder tastes great mixed in. Every little bit counts. HUGS! 2565 days ago

We buy Body Fortress Super Advanced Chocolate Whey Protein Powder. We buy it at Walmart. Oh, my Hubby just bought a new container, and he grabbed Chocolate Peanut Butter. He didn't even know he grabbed that flavor lol. Going to sample some now! 2565 days ago

I really like 'Whey Factors'. It's non-denatured, and has no growth hormones. It comes in 3 flavors (vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry). I buy it at Vitacost in the 2 lb. size (better price than the smaller, 1 lb.) Alas, I only use it in my morning smoothies or in my cereal milk. Sorry I can't offer more ideas. I too, don't get enough protein unless I eat chicken or fish. 2571 days ago

I like to mix it with plain yogurt and add some berries, really tasty snack. You can mix with pudding too, I've never tried that though. Sometimes I might add some toasted nuts for a little crunch too.
I've been using Designer Whey, I have vanilla and chocolate. 2571 days ago

I used 3different ones. Optimum nutrition, Muscle Milk are both at costco. Otherwise Aria is at trader Joes. Aria is low calorie &. A good start price at 9.99.- it was my first protein powder ever. Good luck
Dr. Oz did an episode on this by the way, he has a whole different point of view. I went to check out some of his ideas ( pea powder was one ) and they were too pricey for my budget. Happy New Year Victoria Dr. Oz Show Fans Team Leader 2571 days ago
They're pretty darned good - I make them with almond butter instead of the PB and have also used vanilla protein powder instead of the chocolate. I like to add cacao nibs:
from Navitas Naturals to them, and occasionally some raw chopped almonds sprinkled on top. It's a basic recipe that you can really play around with a lot.
I like the Pure Protein powder:

I like the Trader Joe's whey chocolate protein powder. It is better (in my humble opinion) than Designer Whey and Aria. I only use it in smoothies, but I hope you find some good recipes :) 2572 days ago
