SG Blog 2: My Challenges

Friday, January 10, 2014

My challenge starts with balance.

I tend to be all or nothing. That makes for times of great progress, and great undoing!

I cook a lot with a family of 6.
There are lunches to be made, after school snacks and dinner almost every night- all made by me!
I do not have much self control- so I do a lot of biting and sampling!!
I also stay home. You can't stop working to have a bowl of ice cream at 2:00 in the afternoon- but I can! I need more self control!
Throw in hypothyroid and starting menopause, and you can see why the pounds can add uop quickly.

What helps me:
A Plan! What to eat, how much and when. I am good at following rules- it is when I "freestyle it" that I get in trouble!

Support- I need people around me who know that this is not a game or about losing 10 pounds- this is about getting myself back- and it is really important to me.

Activity- I am much better when I have a schedule to stick to. I like the freedom of doing what I like, but I am working on being more rigid with my days so I do not veer off track.

Freesyling get me into trouble too. That is my problem, I can have a bowl of ice cream at 2 pm too. haha

Maybe we should invest in kitchen cupboards and the fridge having timed locks on them. haha

It takes some doing - with or without their cooperation - but it's possible to ditch the starches in their diets to some degree as well. If you truly believe that low carb is a healthy way for you to eat, then it's healthy for them too!
