And this is why I re-shifted my focus...

Monday, January 20, 2014

I've increased my walking by more than double this week and that darn scale went up 2.5 lbs! Logic tells me that's gotta be water retention but this just solidifies my dislike for that darn scale. I'll keep going, knowing the additional exercise is good for me and the scale will cooperate eventually.

Watching my Fitness minutes and mileage grow throughout the month (2 things I have complete control over) is so much more motivating than gambling on what that scale will read. The scale actually demotivates me far more frequently than it motivates me, yet I'm not quite ready to toss it out. On the contrary, I see it as a challenge. I will continue my increased walking regime and glower at the beast until it yields to me. emoticon

The scales don't always budge, even if you think you are doing everything right. Suddenly you may get a loss of a couple of pound. If you are making healthy choices and feel good I wouldn't worry too much.

By the way you are at the top of my fitbit list! Go Feistymama!

You're doing a great job! I, too, see the stupid scales bounce up and down. At first it really upset me. Now (probably a year later:) it doesn't bother me because I KNOW I'm doing things right. It's how you feel over all that really counts. You don't have to pass the darn thing out ... just build a 4" metal box around it until you decide to take a peek.

emoticon + emoticon = emoticon Right?

    Have a grand day!

My thoughts exactly --- weight loss will be a side effect of making healthier choices. =)

that is great. I know that personally, when I started focusing on my distances, calories burned etc. and not put as much weight on the scale, it made my life a lot easier...

weight loss is a side effect of doing things right, but side effects don't come at a regular interval....
