A Most Challenging Challenge

Saturday, January 25, 2014

There is a rebel in me who just Hates to track. I know the benefits and that I need to make this a habit to reach goal and maintenance.

I will motivate myself to do it for awhile, especially for the 5% challenge but it always slips by the wayside.

I am gritting my teeth, knowing this is the challenge I need the most. It's kinda crazy but I am looking forward to it.

I love your honesty. I did really well after my retirement and lost 40 pounds, exercised vigorously and regularly. Some of it does fall by the wayside, or health issues occur, and through it all I have remained loyal or dependent on SP to keep me honest and motivated. Glad you came back to this team. emoticon emoticon

emoticon Yep, it takes time, but it is beneficial to track.
Hang in there, Maria. I know you can do it.
I noticed this blog is dated January. Is tracking working for you now?

It is a struggle for me too, but I track on Weight Watchers and use my phone and make it a time to walk around while I track. Somehow knowing I am moving more while tracking makes it easier for me!

I never seem to keep up with tracking for more than a couple of weeks before I get tired of it!

All t he good habits have an element of "chore" to them. Fortunately they bring such rewards that much of the time we can and do stick with them. Do I like tracking? Most of the time I'm neutral about it - now and then I hate it - but I've done it long enough that when I don't track I feel guilty and I can tell you this - I would far rather track than feel guilty.

You certainly have my sympathy AND empathy. Now go Nike. Just do it.

I don't mind tracking but get very frustrated cos it seems there is always something I cant measure or figure. ie if you make casserole, how do you know that this spoonful has way less meat but tons of veggies etc. so that makes me so frustrated that I get angry and not worth it, but have to say my biggest issue is portion control........... so know it will help me LOL

i dont like tracking my food. i tend to forget stuff but have learned that the mindless eating is causing the weight gain so i hae to do it if i want success.

I know the feeling! I've gotten lax because I have a much better sense of the correct portions now, but I probably should be more diligent.... Well, here's to renewed commitment!

I make all of my groupings so that I can just click on the group and it is done. I wish you well on your new challenge. It is exciting to start a new one..even if it requires the unwelcome daily tracking! You sound ready to take the challenge on! emoticon

I struggle with tracking food too. No problem tracking exercise though :-) I am getting back into the tracking groove and seeing results. Once the tracking is a habit, it gets much easier.

    ME TOO! I detest tracking.
But what I have found helps with it is planning my menus. I prep my food by cutting up the vegetables, washing the lettuce, putting it in containers. I know what a serving is so I measure or weigh.
I buy my protein every fortnight and weigh it out, add the herbs and spices, the rubs I might use, garlic, ginger, wrap each n a Baggie and freeze some raw. The rest, I freeze cooked, slightly undercooked so microwaving it both heats and completes the cooking.
I favorite the ingredients, so they are to hand when I am ready to track.
This means that tracking is really really quick. Cooking dinner is really quick for me. And I spend less time with my head n the refrigerator, which is a great help.
Hope some of these tips work for you!
