Well, normally I write this report sometime on Saturday after I do a weigh-in and/or complete any lacking fitness minutes to fill out my time.
I was out of town and I didn't take my computer with me, so I wasn't able to do anything until today.
First off, this will be sadly incomplete. I didn't do a weigh-in on Saturday... or today (Sunday). And I'm probably just not going to. See, I try to weigh under similar conditions every time: first thing in the morning, before I've had any food or beverage, and after I've done any necessary "evacuating", and always on the same scale. There's too much variation between scales, ya know? Since I didn't have my scale with me- that would have been a weird thing to pack!- I knew borrowing one wasn't going to happen, so I just thought I wouldn't worry about it. So, no new number to report.
And as far as fitness minutes, by the end of the day Friday I had 247 minutes. Yup, just 3 minutes short of my goal. If I had kept better track of I would have just gone ahead and done 3 minutes more of something on Friday. But, I didn't. So that meant at some point on Saturday I'd have to do some workin' out. While away for the weekend. I did manage, almost at the last possible minute, to get in my 3 minutes (I did 8- bed top yoga). Next time I'll be more mindful so that I won't have to worry about it. So, success! I got in my 250 minutes!
This weekend I got to spend with one of my best friends (I've known her since my freshman year in high school) and meet her new addition. His name is Max and he's as cute as button! He was born 1 month premature and a few weeks after being released from the NICU needed a blood transfusion, so this was the first he was healthy and stable enough for company (like me). Also, his mom and I did some work on his nursery, which was my secondary reason to visit, while her husband did child wrangling for us. His room is "Where the Wild Things Are" themed (the boy in the story's name is Max!) and it's adorable. We hung up some framed art- a poster, a canvass, and two embroidery hoops with appropriate fabric stretched through them. We also got big letters to paint that spell out his name. We didn't get around to painting them, but we did hang them up so we could be sure we got the leveling and spacing right.
The rest of the weekend was a, ahem, deviation from my new normal. I didn't always (read: never) have control of what my food was going to be, so I tried to make the best of it when I could. I had a healthy breakfast on Saturday, but everything for the rest of the day was not so much... chicken wings, french fries, pizza, alcohol (not much, I'm not a big drinker). Sunday I didn't have breakfast as I was on baby-whisperer duty (WORTH IT!!!) and lunch was VERY healthy- my friend and I made a refreshing quinoa salad (red bell pepper, red onion, corn, lime juice, cilantro, and chili powder- and black beans for everyone but me) stuffed into an avocado half. It was super tasty and turned out really pretty. We came back home and met a friend here for dinner. I had a turkey burger and LOTS of fries. And some cheese fries. And I may have put some Thousand Island dressing on my burger.
But, my AccountabiliBuddy Malia said it to me best: I'm going to need to forgive myself for some things this weekend. I did grant myself to do what I could. And the rest will just be in the past. Something I don't do very often anymore, so I enjoyed it and am ready to continue forward. I'm looking forward to hitting the treadmill Monday afternoon/evening and getting my nutrition where it normally is. :-)
So, I need to cut this "short" and get ready for bed. I've got a long week ahead and it starts bright and early [for this night owl] in the morning.
