yesterday I was disappointed at myself when I went to see the dr

Saturday, March 29, 2014

Hi everyone yesterday I went to the doctor just for my usual 3 month check in and found out that since the beginning of the year I have gained 13lbs back. I told him that I have cut down on what I been eating and said what is next on losing this weight. All he said to me is get up and move around a lot more but be careful.

I thought man that is so helpful so been looking up more chair exercises and found out there is a lot more out there then I thought there was.

Thinking I need to figure out how to get the umph up to get moving knowing that once I get started with a task I stay on it until it is done for that section at least. Then I need the umph to get up the next day to do the same thing.

I told dh that maybe I should just walk around the house a lot to get in 2 or 3 miles a day going in a circle until this rain stops. But that is boring to do that every day several times (I know excuses, excuses). When the weather is good enough to go outside I can take one dog to the corner and back, (since we have three dogs) that would be three trips to the corner and back. the round trip is about 1/2 mile so that would get me 1 1/2 miles a day as long as I keep it up.

Weather here in California is raining, in the summer time it can get up over 100 at times. So need some suggestions on how to make the exercise fun so it would be more like play time so to speak.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Shirley

Your focus is in the right direction and there is progression within itself. I like interaction however, it can be distracting, sometimes at the fitness centers. Sparkpeople have a lot of free exercise options and hopefully, you're taping into it to find something that suits you. I end up doing the 10 minutes DVD for the whole 96 minutes! emoticon One day and one step at a time. emoticon emoticon emoticon

You can do it! Remember that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise :D

Shirley, I walk inside during cold, cold or rainy or really hot weather. I go from one end of the house to the other and have the tv on in each room so that I can keep up with my program. Also, I have several Leslie Sansome tapes and love to walk with her. You can do 1 mile, 2 mile, etc. or whatever you can do and go at your own pace. Also check out your local Recreation Department and see if they have senior exercise classes, chair classes, or water aerobics. I know from personal experience that they are fun. I do not do good at gyms cause I need people interaction where there is laughter and fun going on. I need to exercise my jaws as well as the rest of my body. LOL Good luck. emoticon emoticon emoticon
