"When Life Throws You Lemons" ~ Week 4~ A & I BSG Dancing Daffodils Challenge"

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

When life throws me lemons, I find relief in writing. Sometimes I will write about what the problem is, how I feel, and why life is taking this turn. It has helped me alot over the past few years. I am able to express how I feel and what I can do to overcome it. That does not always work in the long run, but sure helps at the time. I also go walking. I am able to keep my mind on what is around me, other people, scenery, and the outdoors in general, rather than the situation.

I am to write about 3 positive things about my appearance, so here goes.
1. My smile. I have been told my smile makes others smile, so for me that is a positive thing. Anytime I can help someone smile, that in turn helps me in a positive way.

2. My wrinkles. When I look in the mirror, I feel I have earned every one of them. I look at them as small accomplishments I have made throughout my lifetime, and how I was able to overcome the negative things in my life, thus bringing me to where I am today because of them. It took a lot of of hard work, and pain, but I am a better person for it, and as a result, more wrinkles. But I just keep telling myself, "yes, I have worked hard and earned them all."

3. My eyes. I have been told that I can express my feelings through my eyes, whether I am happy, sad, upset, excited, or others. It is not always such a good thing, but overall, I think it is much, much, more positive than it could ever be negative.

Loved your Blog, and couldn't agree more with what you write about life, feelings, and wrinkles too. It's really all about accepting , and dealing with everything that comes our way.
Sometimes, when we feel we have no other choice, we still have one left, and that is to make positive ones. Exercise is a gift we can treat ourselves to.

I love the post, Barb! It's very inspiring. I need to get back to writing, too. I also find that it helps me sort things out, but I don't do it as often. Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration. xoxo

Writing is such a wonderful outlet. Journaling has got me through some tough times over the years. In my retirement, I will try to write a novel

When I was complaining my mother would tell me to use my fingers to count my blessings and complaints BUT I had to count my blessings first. I always ran out of fingers before I got to the complaints. One of the things a counselor uses to get people to understand their problems is to have them make two lists, one of problems and one of the good things in their lives. It helps us to put things into perspective if we write about them.

Words are powerful things - they can destroy but they can also rebuild! I envy your abilities as a writer.

emoticon blog Barb. Writing is a great way to deal with life's lemons. I agree that it does help and I think it helps more in the long run than you might think. I love the three positives you have about yourself, especially the wrinkles. What a great way to look at them! emoticon emoticon

Great blog Barb. I too find relief in writing. There's just something about putting your feelings on paper or in email format that is a great stress reliever.
