Recovery From Slip Ups

Friday, May 09, 2014

Recovery for me means picking myself up and starting again. A good example would be the Christmas season. I convinced myself that we needed (wanted really) Christmas cookies. I made dozens and did not refrain from eating them. In fact I tell people that I ate so many cookies I had frosting flowing through my veins, lol.

I packaged up several plates of cookies, attached Christmas cards to them and delivered them to friends and neighbors. It helped to get rid of the temptation. When I know a challenging situation is coming up, I try to move just a little extra to combat the calories.

Lately I have been craving sweets and greasy food. I love the chobani flip style Greek yogurt and they have taken care of my craving along with sugar free candy. As for greasy food, I made burgers with 93% lean beef and ate it on a roll open face. I also have individual pizzas in the freezer and add 1 oz of cheese to them. Having good substitutes and tracking the calories here on SP has really helped to prevent a slip.

For sweets, I still go to chocolate, but now I use dark chocolate with mint. The chocolate cuts the sweet craving, and the mint makes it so I can't keep going. Have you ever had chips after eating a mint, not good. Plus dark chocolate is good for you.

Awesome plans. Thanks for sharing, I need to find a healthier alternative to eating sweet and crunchy foods. One I found for the crunch is cauliflower.
