Vacation, Day 4/90

We finally arrived in Michigan yesterday and set up camp midway between the town where my mother lives and the town where TC's family lives. It was 3 days of driving in the rain, but we made it without incident so we are grateful!
The weeks before leaving on an extended trip are always stressful and difficult. There is SO MUCH to do in shutting down a house for three months and packing for three months on the road. Every time I crossed one thing off my list I thought of two more things that needed to be done!
My diet hasn't been the best because we try to eat down what's in the freezer & fridge as much as possible. The freezer in the trailer is itty-bitty so we can't bring much along. I also feel overwhelmed and stressed, which is a source of overeating for me.
Now that we have finally arrived I feel relaxed and ready to get back to work! We will be in Michigan at least two weeks and maybe 2 1/2 weeks. Our campground is out in the country so we can take walks and do jogs in the mornings on country roads. I've brought my 5-pound weights and a couple of exercise DVDs. There's no reason I can't do this as long as I use my God-given discipline!
Today we will visit TC's parents and bring lunch. They are 89 and 90 years old and subsist mostly on fast food, junk food, and convenience products -- their choice. Regardless of what they want us to pick up for them, I'm going to get a Subway Veggie Delite for myself. We'll buy cut up fruit and pie at the store and call it good.
For breakfast I had 1/2 cup of Fiber One mixed in with yogurt and an apple. It feels good to be eating right and tracking again, and I'm going to prove to myself that it's possible to lose weight on vacation! In the next two weeks we have a lot of eating out and family meals ahead of us, but there's no reason I can't eat smart. It's my choice. I'm the only one can control what goes in my mouth.
I'll keep you up to date on how I'm doing as an extra measure of accountability. I find that if I'm not on Spark, I'm not doing what I need to do!
Happy Friday, Spark friends!
