Back it.. first Race Post Op!

Woooohoo... I'm back at it... after months in a cast, surgery and physical therapy I am able to run again! Of course, I am not running the distance/duration I was prior to my injury or surgery but I AM running. I can not even begin to explain how AWESOME it is to run again. I had the BEST surgeon (Dr. Allen Davis - CCHS) there is for my problems and I have to say I have many PT's before and my PT this time around (a runner and Boston Marathoner himself) has been such an advantage and educating for me.
I am still slowly building! I ran my first 10K race (5/18/14) since surgery (10/1/13) and the start of running again (2/18/14) and PR'd my time and had an awesome race. I ran with my Sunshine (the best man that has ever come into my life - that's another entire blog!)! We ran the entire race together and finished with an 8:43 minute mile (actually we ran 6.3 miles with an 8:29/mile.... tracked it while we ran, if you don't hug corners you actually run a longer distance, again another blog)!
Now I am focusing on keeping my cadence (stride) short and trail running, I LOVE it! I'm preparing for my first Ultra... the NorthCoast 24 Endurance Run in September! I am so excited.. it's not all running I will be walking and running... it's all about forward movement!
I just have to say Thank you to everyone for all the support on this site.. I went through my weight loss with you, my learning to run and several major injuries and most recently the most traumatic injury requiring surgery and the longest downtime for me.
And to my Sunshine, Thank you for sticking by me, just meeting me prior to my injury, through my surgery, rehab (and much more .. you know) and now running with me! Life just doesn't get much better than this and I wouldn't change a thing! I have it all, all I could ever want!
