When you get to officially be older then dirt, like we according to my husband, are, exercising takes some preparation.
As a child or a teenager, even as a young adult, you wanted to run, you just took off running, wanted to ride, pop on the bike and off you go. Of course back then I didn't think of it as exercise, it was just fun and something to do.
When did all this because exercise? When I officially became fat and older then dirt. So... dust off the bike, get me some good walking shoes and off I go. And I get pain here and pain there and the ole body doesn't work as smoothly and painlessly as it used to.
Now a days , going for a ride. I tape my knee with kinetic tape to keep my knee cap from tracking wrong and giving me pain. I put biofreeze on my lower back and wear a wrist brace on my left hand. The ole guy tries on 4 pairs of shoes before he can find one that doesn't kill his always painful heel, puts on padded bike shorts to protect his bony butt, and slips his wrist brace over the healing fracture on his right wrist. We stretch, moan and groan, work out the kinks by moving this way and that way, stiffly climb on the bikes and off we go. Inside my head my evil twin says, lets just sit on the couch all day , OMG, this just can't be good for you, you might fall and get hurt, your knee is gonna be screaming all night. But the real me is loosening up, enjoying the breeze on her face and getting into the ride. A smile, unforced is on my face. I love riding my bike.
So moral of the story, even when you do get to be older then dirt and in dog years you would be dead, and getting ready takes longer then it used to and requires more braces and ointments, still do it, it is like the fountain of youth, the muscles loosen up, you feel younger and fun is good for your soul.
