Replacing dairy on a Paleo "diet"...

Tuesday, June 03, 2014

I'm transitioning to a Paleo way of eating. I hate the word diet. I can "manage" lunch, dinner and snacks while I learn how to do this and what to eat, but my biggest and first roadblock of the day is breakfast.
I'm very loyal to smoothies and I'm a creature of habit. I have no trouble having a smoothie 6 days a week. I make it before I leave for work and I can drink it when I first get hungry. Sometimes that's right away, sometimes that's mid morning. So it's a very versatile choice for me. My go-to recipe is

1 cup of fruit with or without some spinach
1 cup of green iced tea
1/4 cup of organic greek or regular yogurt

I need the yogurt to help me stay full but I'm eager and willing to give it up. Not before I have a replacement though. So what can I replace my yogurt with that will leave me as full as the yogurt does?

I'm not a fan of chia...I tried it for months. But I need to drink it excessively fast in order to drink it before it gels up on me and becomes a glob of something I'm not swallowing. Also not a fan of protein powders.

emoticon Best wishes as you figure it out. I know dairy would be hard for me to give up, but I've cut down.

That's a tough one! I don't know if I could give up dairy.

No answers from me, but I'll be interested to see what you come up with.
